Traditional Detox Diets

November 6th, 2009

As body detoxification becomes more prevalent in the world of preventative medicine, many people now find themselves searching for free detox recipes. Customized diet plans designed to flush the body of toxins require a precise balance of certain foods to deliver the necessary nutrients and antioxidants.  Free detox recipes are useful because they allow individuals to find dishes and menu ideas that they know they will want to eat. Detox diets require a strict limitation to key foods, usually raw fruits and vegetables, so it is important that you find recipes which are palatable to your tastes.

One of the most commonly ingested detox diet options is the classic smoothie. By foregoing traditional ingredients like ice cream and fruits for more nutritious choices, you can create a recipe for detox diets that you actually look forward to consuming. A typical detox smoothie will include fresh spinach leaves, sliced cucumbers, celery stalks, a whole banana, and filtered water. Blending these ingredients thoroughly releases the ingredient’s natural antioxidants and allows them to be distributed throughout your body much quicker than simply eating them. By replacing a standard meal with one of these delicious and healthy smoothies will help you lose weight while you detoxify your body.

Traditional detox diets call for a strict regimen of high-fiber vegetables, such as lima beans and Brussels sprouts, along with large amounts of filtered water, which means creating delicious recipes for detox diets requires a healthy dose of creativity. The reason most people lack the vital nutrients they need for natural detoxification is simply because most of these nutrients are found in foods that are not appealing to the palate. If you don’t like to eat fiber rich vegetables like Brussels sprouts normally, it may become difficult to stick to a detox diet. Fortunately, there are countless new recipes for detox diets which combine the healthy, nutrient laden foods needed for detoxification with more appetizing ingredients.

Searching online forums dedicated to wellness and natural health care will provide a bounty of free detox recipes. You can sample a wide variety of unique dishes, such as cold broccoli soup or garlic and sesame salad, before deciding which ones you prefer. Most free detox recipes found online will also provide commentary from other health conscious individuals who have tried them. These comments can give you valuable insight into important factors about various free detox recipes, from the taste of a particular dish to its specific detoxifying effects. By comparing different reviews of the free detox recipes you find, you can easily determine whether or not you have selected a good fit for your overall needs.

1 week Detox Diet Plan

November 6th, 2009

The 1 week detox diet plan is an intermediate level detox diet designed for a whole body cleanse and toxin removal. This particular whole body detox flush advocates the sole drinking of fruit and vegetable juice for the first day. These include fiber rich foods such as grapefruit, beet and celery, mango, cucumber and carrot juices. The second day exchanges the fruit and vegetable juice with boiled potatoes (due to their high potassium) for the daily consumption. Day three traditionally consists of rice, mineral water, tea or coffee; no sugar. Day four is all about fruits once more, focusing on breakfast, with apple, pear, cheese, and lemon juice. Mineral water, tea and coffee without sugar are again advised for day four. Day five consists of pasta — macaroni is recommended — mixed with egg, vegetable soup garnished with egg, parsley, dill and onion. Day six consists of vegetables, including cauliflower, cabbage, egg, lemon dressing and apple vinegar (a good all-around tonic in a number of ways). The final and seventh day includes a diet of meats, potatoes, green salad, cheese and whole grain bread.

Here is another variation on the 1 week detox diet plan with the sample menu:

Upon waking up:

One glass of water with half an organic lemon squeezed into it.

Breakfast:

Fresh organic fruit salad topped with almond slivers, wheat germ, and pumpkin seeds; organic yogurt.

Midmorning snack:

One to two cups vegetable broth (see recipe following menu).

Lunch:

Mixed salad consisting of organic vegetables with oil and vinegar dressing; one piece of fresh organic fruit.

Afternoon snack:

One to two cups vegetable broth.

Dinner:

Up to four cups steamed vegetables. Choose at least four different vegetables of different colors, textures, and flavors. For instance, choose a starchy vegetable like a potato, a sweet vegetable like red peppers, a bitter green like kale, and a pungent vegetable like scallions. Steam until just tender.

Do not eat after dinner, but you can drink all the water you want. You should drink at least ten glasses of water each day. In addition to water, you can drink organic fruit and vegetable juices and herbal teas. The teas that aid with detox are dandelion, which helps flush toxins from your system and supports liver functioning, and peppermint, which aids good digestion. Make sure to avoid processed sugary drinks.

Most detox diet plans contain organic foods and drinks, whole unprocessed foods, a high mix of vegetables and fruits, extra-virgin olive oil, herbal teas, 2 liters of water per day, and certain herbs to aid the detoxification process. A week-long detox program also avoids alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, drugs, processed and refined foods and any other harmful toxins. A 1 week detox diet plan is typically very low in calories and weight loss is almost guaranteed; so is being much closer to optimum health.
